Hey there all of you Bohnett Bloggers!

Here are some pictures taken last Sunday when the kids were visiting. Since Hector's hair had been "shedding", he wanted to get rid of it all, and we thought it would be a neat thing to do with Sheila and Nicolas. --Claire

Kath here for Claire - update since last week...
Claire & Hector went up to Las Vegas as Hector had a 'get out of jail free' pass after his round of chemo. It was a welcome treat to be in his own bed!

Now (Saturday) they are back in the Southland with George, getting ready for round 2.

Mary Jo & Vern are with Sheila and Nic in SB, taking care of the house/pets/school games (kudos to you two!)

Hey, doncha think Hector looks pretty darn handsome with this new style!!!
Love the new look, H.

You wear it well....(can't remember the rest of the words to the Rod Stewart song...)

The Latest - The Match!

Here is some news from Claire, great for Hector to hear after a visit this
past weekend with Sheila and Nic:

Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that Hector's brother, George, is a confirmed bone marrow match!! We are so grateful for that terrific news...not to mention the fact that he has assured me that he will hold off on his hang-gliding lessons for a couple of months. As my beautiful friend, Michele, just told me yesterday, "God is not such a mystery...we see His handiwork all around us". Amen, sis-tah!

So, Hector will have a second round of chemo over the next 3-4 weeks, then it is transplant time...looking like late Oct. He will need more blood and platelets during that time and most of the month of Nov. for those willing and able (many thanks to those whose blood and platelets he has already received!).

Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts for your positive thoughts and prayers. Hector is tolerating the chemo pretty well and he is such a strong man, we have faith that he will come through this and be home, recovering by Christmas.

Much Love and Thanks to you all,Claire & Hector

Hector and Claire

Hello all - just wanted to let everyone know what's going on with Hector and Claire.

Unbelievably, Hector has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). You can read about it at the links below. It took some doing to diagnose via the Mayo, but this is where we are now.

Anyone who is able has been donating blood or platelets for Hector, and the best news yet is that his brother George (our hero!) is a probable match for the bone marrow transplant Hector needs.

As we get closer to the time of the transplant, Hector will need blood/platelets, and actually there is an ongoing need. If you want to donate: http://www.cityofhope.org/blooddonorcenter/Giving+Blood.htm

Claire and Hector both are very grateful for all the prayers and wishes of everyone. When Harriet and I (Kath) went down to Duarte last weekend, Hector's spirits were upbeat. Certainly there is a long road ahead but it is a forward path, and surely an active one!
