Hector and Claire

Hello all - just wanted to let everyone know what's going on with Hector and Claire.

Unbelievably, Hector has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). You can read about it at the links below. It took some doing to diagnose via the Mayo, but this is where we are now.

Anyone who is able has been donating blood or platelets for Hector, and the best news yet is that his brother George (our hero!) is a probable match for the bone marrow transplant Hector needs.

As we get closer to the time of the transplant, Hector will need blood/platelets, and actually there is an ongoing need. If you want to donate: http://www.cityofhope.org/blooddonorcenter/Giving+Blood.htm

Claire and Hector both are very grateful for all the prayers and wishes of everyone. When Harriet and I (Kath) went down to Duarte last weekend, Hector's spirits were upbeat. Certainly there is a long road ahead but it is a forward path, and surely an active one!

This latest news is wonderful. Giving blood is simple and plateletes just takes a little time. So when the call goes out, it is my turn to drive.

Thanks so much Kath for putting this together! Lots of faith, lots of prayers and a good fight - Hector and Claire, we are on your team! Those of us who can't donate blood for reasons (travel to Central America being one) can just up the ante with all things positive!

Nice job Kathy putting this together. I linked this to our site "the Harnsbloggers" Hector. Lots of prayers are being lifted up for you and for all your treatment.

Thank you, Kath, for setting this up. It'll be great to get the news out and keep an open dialogue...gotta love modern technology! By the way, I think you can request one of the faster platelet machines versus one of the older (2 arm) machines...and Suzie is one of the better "stickers"...fyi. Yesterday, Hector actually received my blood -- I felt so close to him...he was even a bit chatty that afternoon!

Lots of prayers coming from the Wehe's of Texas and Wisconsin. Looking into give blood for Hector here.
Found a card last week from Sister Imelda (Clem's sister Louise) dated 1989 - she mentioned she had heard how beautiful Claire (Louise) and Hector's wedding was. I took it as a sign that she wanted us to know that she is praying for Hector.

Dear Claire and hector,
I will keep you in my prayers. I know the road ahead will be rough but know that you will have many prayers lifting you and guiding you. I will pray for the peace that God offers and the comfort that comes with His love and presence. Psalms 3:5&6 is what helped me.
God bless you and your family
Jill

Hi Claire and Hector,
The verse I love is Proverbs, not Psalms. I had a brain freeze! It's Proverbs 3:5&6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight. This always helped me to trust Him. He sees the big picture. We just have to trust Him to take care of us. God bless you today and I pray you have an uplifting and restful day.
